The festival has been organized by District Panchayat since it was first started in 2006. The main purpose of this festival is to celebrate the rich history & culture of Ulhasnagar district along with international cuisine like Chinese & Japanese cuisines as well!

The first-ever Ulhasnagar Food Festival is set to take place from 15th November to 30th November 2019, at Dewan Sheela Bhagat Prakash Auditorium, on the banks of River Ulhas. The festival will have a host of activities including cookery demos by renowned chefs and street food stalls serving delectable dishes that can only be found in Mumbai or Nagpur but not in Ulhasnagar!

Organized by an association called "Mumbai South Asia Forum", this is an initiative by citizens who want to promote tourism in their city as well as create awareness about our rich culture through food festivals like these.

During these nine days people fast from sunrise to sunset without eating or drinking anything except water during this period which can be devotees' only source of nourishment for them during these times since they are not allowed any solid food or liquids whatsoever while observing their fasts during these days
