Jallianwala Bagh Memorial

Jallianwala Bagh is a memorial of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre that occurred in Amritsar, Punjab, India on 13 April 1919 when General Dyer ordered his troops to fire on a crowd of unarmed civilians who were protesting the arrest of two local political leaders. The British had been trying to crush an uprising against their rule in India and this event was one example where they used violence against civilians as a means of suppressing dissent. The memorial was built after independence to remember those who died at Jallianwalah Bagh and also as a tribute to all Indians who have fought for their freedom from foreign rule since then.

The site features statues representing both sides of this conflict: British soldiers shooting at unarmed Indian protestors while others stand watching helplessly or running away from bullets fired by British soldiers (there are no remains left behind today). It also includes several other historical monuments including ones dedicated specifically towards those killed during World War I but most importantly it includes one dedicated solely towards those killed during 1857 rebellion itself!
