The iconic Ajanta Caves were carved out of the side of a cliff by Buddhist monks during the 4th century AD. They are famous for featuring some of the earliest examples of Indian rock-cut architecture dating back to around 460 AD. The sanctuary covers an area of about 6 km2 in north-eastern Maharashtra, between Jalgaon City and Aurangabad district. It was declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1975 by the Government of India under Section 3(1)(a) & (b) of notification no. Dated 11th December 1973 published in The Gazette Extraordinary dated 7th January 1974 issue number 3399 at page 1467 under section 2(1) (ii), Section 3(1)(b).

The 14th century temple was built by the local king Bhima Sena. It has an exquisite marble roof that has been preserved well over time. The main deity of this temple is Lord Ganesh who is depicted with his consort Ganesha and son Kartikeya along with other deities such as Vishnu, Brahma and Indra. There are also two other deities called Nandi & Surya Dev which are located at either side of Lord Ganesh himself while they represent Ratri (night) & Chaitra (spring season).

The sanctuary has around 200 km² area which is divided into two distinct regions: Eastern and Western part (the Western region being much bigger). Both these regions are connected by forest roadways that allow visitors to travel through them easily without an animal/bird/botanical assistant on their way!

The historical Mahatma Gandhi Garden

The garden is a peaceful place with beautiful flowers and trees. It has been designed by the French landscaper André Le Notre in 1651, who was also responsible for designing Versailles Palace.

This garden has a pond surrounded by stone steps which leads you to walk through some flower beds that lead you to another area where there are many different kinds of plants on display. The Jalgaon Gardens and parks are one of the most visited places in Jalgaon city because of its historical significance and beauty.

Situated at a distance of 14 km from Jalgaon city, this temple was built during 18th century by Raja Raghunath Singh Deo. It has been renovated extensively since then and now houses various deities including Ganesh and Murli Manohar Joshi who have been worshipped here since ages. The main deity in this beautiful mandir stands on an elevated platform facing eastward while smaller ones stand on pedestals around her feet facing northward or southward depending upon which direction you look at them from your vantage point inside or outside the temple boundaries respectively (depending upon whether you want to go up closer or down farther).
