Mandawa is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It's located at an elevation of 1,250 metres (3,810 feet) above sea level and was first mentioned in historical texts dating back to the 6th century AD.

The town became part of Mewar kingdom after which it came under Delhi Sultanate's rule during 1468-1528 CE; later on, Mughal emperor Akbar gave this territory to his wife Jodhabai who built an elaborate palace here which made her famous across India for its beauty despite being located far from any major city or commercial centre!
