Upcoming Events & Festivals in Tawang

Tawang is one of the most important tourist destinations in Arunachal Pradesh. The city is situated at the foothills of Mount Kebri, which is one of the highest peaks in the eastern Himalayas. The city has several festivals and celebrations which are held throughout the year but some of them are celebrated more than others. Here we have listed all these festivals and their dates so that you can plan your trip before going there!

Torgya Festival

The Torgya Festival is a festival of music and dance held every year in June. It is held at Dikhu, Tawang. This festival was started by Manang Gyalpo when he came to know about Buddha's enlightenment through meditation on his birthday, which falls on May 8th or 9th according to the Tibetan calendar system.

The Torgya Festival is mainly a cultural event to mark Buddha's birthday but also includes various other programs such as:

Cultural performances from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh state such as Lekhajung Monastery; Yupia Khi Khutsho Monastery; Tawang Monastery etc.,

Competition between local schools to find out who has better performing skills than others in organizing events related with this festival like choirmaster award ceremony etc.,

Losar Festival

Losar, which means "new year" or "festival," is the Tibetan New Year. It is celebrated on the first day of the first month in their lunar calendar and it's a time to celebrate with family and friends.

Losar celebrations include visiting relatives, making resolutions for the new year and eating leftover food from all your meals over the last month! The best time to go to Tawang during this festival will be between Jan 31-Feb 13 as there are many activities happening around town including plays performances by local artists and dancers who wear traditional costumes made from wool dyed red (red hue symbolizes prosperity).

Saka Dawa Festival

Saka Dawa Festival is a festival of the Nishi tribe in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is celebrated on the first day of the first month of the Tibetan calendar which falls on February 28 every year. The people celebrate this festival by dancing, singing and burning incense sticks in their homes or outside temples. During this time, they also eat ceremonial food such as flour cake made from corn flour mixed with sugar and fried until it turns dark brown.[1] People usually wear traditional dresses during these celebrations.[2]

Drukpa Tshechi Festival

Drukpa Tshechi Festival is a festival that is held in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. The festival was started by the Buddhist Monks of Drubthang Monastery and it has been celebrated since 2004. This event celebrates the birthday of His Holiness Thubten Gyatso (Tenzin Gyatso), who was born on October 26th 1937 at Taktser village Near Railway Stations Tawang  in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Drukpa Tshechi Festival will take place from October 25-27 this year and it will be celebrated by all people irrespective of their religion or ethnicity. The festival is organized by the Government as well as private organizations like SIDC with support from other non-government organizations. so that everyone can enjoy themselves while they celebrate this occasion together!

Tawang Festival

The Tawang Festival is a festival held in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is a festival of music, dance and sports. The celebration of this event is celebrated every year on the second day of the Tibetan calendar. Zemithang Festival is a three-day festival in the State of Arunachal Pradesh in India celebrating its statehood day.

Sherdukpens Festival

The Sherdukpen Festival is a festival of the Sherdukpens community, held in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. It is an annual celebration of their cultural heritage and traditional arts forms.

The festival begins with an opening ceremony on the first Wednesday after new moon day (the eleventh day after full moon). After this, it involves activities such as singing songs and dancing to mark the beginning of spring season. The celebration continues for three days until Saturday evening when people enjoy themselves by watching performances from other communities like Assam or Manipur who are also part of this community's ancestry as well as eating food prepared by them such as ricepaalu kachoris which are filled with potatoes then deep fried until golden brown before serving hot !

Ziro Festival of Music

Ziro Festival of Music is a music festival held in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh. It is held annually in the month of December.

The festival is organized by the Ziro Chamber Choir and has been held since 1996. The name "Ziro" refers to a small hamlet located at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level (asl).

Arunachal Pradesh Statehood Day

Arunachal Pradesh, a state in India's Northeast, is the only state in the Indian Union to have an indigenous population. It also has the largest number of people who are practicing Buddhism, making it home to several festivals and celebrations that conforms to local customs and traditions.

Arunachal Pradesh was formed when it split away from Assam on 1 December 1972 after being under British rule for over 150 years (1828–1947). The reason behind its formation was due to political instability within Assam which resulted from ethnic conflict between different groups living within its borders as well as illegal migration into this area from other parts of India during this time period.

Adventure Festival

Adventure Festival is a festival for adventure lovers. This festival is held in Tawang, India and it celebrates the spirit of exploration and adventure through various activities like trekking, climbing etc. The theme of this festival is exploration, travelling, open spaces and adventure.

Adventure Festival has been organized since its inception in 2011 by Adventure Foundation (A) which was founded by Mr Ashish Bhatnagar with the help of his friends who are passionate about their love for nature & wildlife conservation efforts towards endangered species conservation via science based research & education initiatives over last 10 years at home or abroad under different projects funded by government organizations like Wildlife Trust Of India (WTI), World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) etc..

Tawang Marathon

Tawang Marathon is a long-distance running event held in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. The marathon starts from the National Highway-37 (NH-37) and ends at Drubwang village near NH-542. This year's Tawang Marathon will be held on 14th February 2019 with participation of over 5500 runners from all over India and abroad including China, Nepal and Bhutan.

In addition to being one of India's most important marathons, it also holds importance as an important festival for people living in this small town in Northeast India who celebrate their culture through music & dance performances every year during this event

Monpa Handicrafts Exhibition

Monpas are a nomadic ethnic group, who have been living in Dzongkha and Bhutan for centuries. They are famous for their unique clothing, musical instruments, and cuisine.

Monpas have close links with Tibetans, Assamese people and Nepalese people due to their cultural similarities with these three groups of people. The word ‘Monpa’ means ‘land dweller’ or ‘place dweller’ in ancient Tibetan language which can be translated as “Landlord” or “Placeholder".

Monpas were originally part of Tibetans but later migrated southwards into present day Arunachal Pradesh during the 17th century AD when many tribes fled from their lands due to political turmoil caused by invaders such as Gogorza (Oirat Mongols) who came from Mongolia through Tibet after destroying entire population including monks; thus leaving only women behind who became known as "Kangni" (meaning "leftover").

Tawang Film Festival

Tawang Film Festival is a film festival held in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. The festival is organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.

Arunachal Pradesh Statehood Day is an annual event on 1 December to commemorate the first state of Arunachal Pradesh. It was first celebrated on 1 December 1954 with a gathering at Panbazar Square in Itanagar with then Chief Minister Dr Phurim Sein representing Assam government and Shri Bhanubhakta Sarma representing NEFA Governor Sir Robert Bower coming together for this occasion; however there has been no official declaration since then due to various reasons especially after independence when there was no mention about any such date being declared as part of celebrations across India except for some states like Manipur where it was observed annually since 1947 till 2005 (when Manipur became part).

Ziro is a festival where people from all around Tawang come and celebrate by performing traditional dances like Bhom Baraat (Tibetan dance) which includes singing songs while dancing around poles called “tirki” or “trikha”; also known as ‘Chowkidar’ who guards against thieves during night time hours at Ziro market place selling fruits & vegetables etc. People wear colorful dresses along with beadwork designs around necklines & arms area along with flowers made using stone pieces carved out into various shapes consisting mainly mostly green coloured ones used commonly throughout India especially northern states like Himachal Pradesh etcetera but also southern region too depending upon availability

International Day of Forests

International Day of Forests is an annual event that celebrates trees and forests. It's a day to recognize their importance in our environment and economy, as well as their cultural significance. Save the date for this year's celebration on March 19th, 2019!

The next International Day of Forests festival will be held at Tawang Wildlife Sanctuary from November 16th to 22nd, 2019 (subjected to weather conditions). This year’s theme is “Forest Guardians”, with activities including storytelling sessions by local people who have lived and worked in the forest for generations; art exhibitions showcasing traditional crafts; music performances by artists from all over India; nature walks through scenic areas surrounding Tawang Wildlife Sanctuary; Tawang Fast Food Restaurants serving dishes made using locally sourced ingredients such as mushrooms grown onsite at nightfall when temperatures drop below freezing point (-8 degrees Celsius). There are also competitions where participants design their own tree house while learning about how they can protect them against deforestation around the world through awareness campaigns like Tree Change Campaigns which aim at creating awareness among people about how important it is not only for us humans but also animals like bears or tigers living within forests where they need space too!

Zemithang Festival

Zemithang Festival is a festival of music and dance. It is held in December every year at Zemithang, Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.

This festival is an annual event that celebrates the culture of Arunachal Pradesh through folk dances, folk songs and other traditional games like Bhutia wrestling. The performances are traditionally performed by tribesmen from different villages around Tawang district such as Kocamu or Changsangtse along with some tourists from different parts of India who wish to experience this unique cultural tradition first hand!

In addition to this there will be competitions held between various groups on different days throughout the week leading up towards Friday night when all participants come together for one last hurrah before heading home after having spent time away from their families during these holidays!
