Crowds

The best time to visit Matheran is during the monsoon season, from June to September. This is when you can expect fewer crowds and better weather conditions than during the tourist season (March to May). However, if you want to avoid crowds, we recommend visiting Matheran during off-peak seasons like early October or late December.

Trekking

If you're interested in trekking, the monsoon season is the best time to visit Matheran as the surrounding hills and valleys are covered in lush greenery and the waterfalls are at their fullest.

The local villagers are known for their hospitality, so it's always good idea to ask them about your plans before setting out on a hike.

If you're a photographer, the winter season is the best time to visit Matheran as the clear skies and cool temperatures provide great lighting conditions.

The sunset at Matheran is one of its most famous attractions, but it's not always visible due to cloud cover or foggy conditions. This makes for some great pictures if you can get lucky!

If you're looking for adventure activities such as rappelling, rock climbing, or zip-lining, plan your visit to Matheran during the winter months.

  • The best time to visit Matheran is between November and March. During this time there are fewer tourists and it's easier to find a spot with no one else around. You can even consider visiting in June if you want to enjoy some quiet time away from other people.
  • If you're looking for an active day trip that involves climbing rocks and waterfalls then this is definitely not what we would recommend! However if you're still interested in checking out some of these things then we suggest going on an organized tour with someone who knows what they are doing (like us). We've done both types of tours so we know which ones work best depending on where exactly your interests lie."

If you're interested in nature walks, the monsoon season is the best time to visit Matheran as the flora and fauna are at their most vibrant.

If you're on a tight budget, plan your visit to Matheran during the monsoon season when the prices are lower and the crowds are smaller. The best time of year for this is September through November. In fact, it's not uncommon for some parts of Matheran to have no visitors at all during these months!

If you can afford it or if you just want a more pleasant experience than traveling during rush hour (especially if you're flying into Mumbai), then I recommend visiting any other month but June or July—those are high seasons with lots of tourists everywhere else but here.

Matheran is a great place to visit with family, especially during the winter months when the weather is pleasant and there are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.
