Wonderful Places to Visit in Thanjavur

Thanjavur is a beautiful city in Tamil Nadu. It's the capital of Thanjavur district and located on the banks of River Cooum. The city has many historical monuments and temples to visit, which makes it a popular tourist destination. Here are some places you should not miss when you go there:

Brihadeeswarar Temple

The Brihadeeswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva. It is located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India and one of the most important temples in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The temple was built by the Pallava king Parantaka I in the 7th century CE as per his vow made during his battle with Chola King Raja Raja I (also known as Parantaka). He vowed that if he won then he would build an idol of Lord Vishnu at this location. Once he won against his rival king, he went ahead with this promise and constructed this famous shrine with great care by carving out large stones from nearby mountains and transporting them over long distances through waterways like rivers or canals till reaching this place where they were finally erected on pedestals around which others were added later on after time passed on by generations until today we see such impressive structures standing tall over us all around us!

Thanjavur Palace

Thanjavur Palace was built by the Cholas between 1100 and 1350. The palace is located in Thanjavur, a city that was once known as Tanjore, and was once part of the Pandyan Kingdom.

The architecture of this palace is quite interesting because it has been built using several different styles: Dravidian architecture, Pallava architecture and Vijayanagar style. These three styles combined together gives us a unique look at what kind of building would have existed during that time period when Thanjavur Palace was constructed (12th century).

One thing that makes this place so special is its planetarium which has many exhibits about stars in our galaxy called Milky Way which will make you feel like you are traveling through space! You can also see paintings by some famous artists such as Raja Ravi Varma or Venkatappa Nayaka who were both born here in India but lived elsewhere later on their lives due to war situations such as World War I where they fought against each other against British rule over India(England). There are many more things worth seeing while visiting Thanjavur Palace but these examples should give you an idea what else might be there if you decide go visit this place yourself someday soon!
