Things to do in Suchindram for a Fantastic Holiday

Suchindram, a small town located in the district of Tanjore, is considered to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tamil Nadu. With its scenic beaches and Temples and pilgrimage sites, this place is a perfect vacation spot for those who love nature and culture. Here are some things that you can do while visiting Suchindram:

Explore the Suchindram Temple

The Suchindram Temple is a famous temple in south india. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built by the Chola kings. The temple has nine storeys, each one higher than the last. The main deities housed inside this beautiful structure include Lord Hanuman, Ganesha and several other deities like Parvathi or Shakti (the goddess of power).

The temple dates back to 11th century AD when it was built by Vijayanagar emperor Krishnadevaraya who wanted to make this place as one of his capitals for his empire. Over time though, this great city became a part of Madurai kingdom which ruled Tamilnadu from 1028 A D till 1311 AD till it was taken over by Vijayanagar Empire again after defeating them twice during those years!

Attend Cultural Events and Festivals

You can also attend many cultural events and festivals in Suchindram.

The Thiruppugazh festival is celebrated on the third day of the Tamil month Panguni, which falls on April-May every year. It is the most popular festival of Suchindram, where people wear their traditional costumes and dance all day long in their homes or on streets.

You can also visit Karthigai Deepam Festival at Sivan temple which happens annually during February-March every year with celebrations across Tamil Nadu state. This is one of the most important Hindu religious festivals celebrated by all castes alike!

Explore the Natural Beauty

The natural beauty of the area is a great place to relax and unwind. There are many places where you can go for a hike, swim or get your tan on. The flora, fauna and wildlife that inhabit this region are very diverse and make for an interesting experience when exploring them with your family or friends.

Trekking and Hiking

Trekking and hiking are great ways to explore the local area. You can meet the locals, learn about their culture, history and customs as well as get a sense of what it's like to live in an Indian village. The trekking routes are also fantastic for learning more about climate change, fauna and flora in India.

Learn about Local Handicrafts

Handicrafts are a traditional way of life and expression in South India. The local people make use of handicrafts as a means to communicate with others, show their emotions, express themselves and even show who they are. Handicrafts can be made from anything including woodwork, stone carving, metal work etc., but most commonly used items include pottery pieces or clay pots which are decorated using different types of paints on them depending on the type of decoration required for each item.

Indulge in South Indian Cuisine

If you're a fan of South Indian cuisine, then this is a must-do trip. The Tamil people have their own blend of regional influences and it's this fusion that creates the distinct flavour of their food.

To get an idea of what to expect from the menu in Suchindram, let's look at some must-try dishes:

Snakeskin Prawns - These prawns are coated in egg white and deep fried until golden brown. Served with garlic chutney and coconut chutney (a mixture of spices), they're one delicious treat!

Eggplant Curry - This vegetable curry is made with spicy masala powder, onions and tomatoes along with eggplants which adds extra flavour to make this dish truly unique!

Experience Ayurveda and Wellness

Ayurveda is a holistic health system that originated in India. It is based on the belief that health can be achieved by living in harmony with nature and taking care of your body. Ayurveda focuses on balance in the mind, body, and spirit—the three components of life—to achieve optimum well-being for each individual.

Ayurvedic medicine uses four main principles: diet; exercise; sleep; stress management (pranayama). These practices are designed to help you develop self-healing abilities so you can prevent illness or treat current conditions naturally within your own body instead of relying on pharmaceuticals or surgery.

Photography and Artistic Inspiration

Photography and artistic inspiration are two of the most popular hobbies in Suchindram. The beauty of nature, people, culture, history and so forth can be captured by taking photos and it's a great way to learn about your surroundings. If you don't like photography or art in general it may be worth taking up sketching or painting as a hobby instead though there are many beautiful places in Suchindram where such activities can take place without leaving the area!

Here are some examples from my own collection:

Learn about History and Mythology

The history of Suchindram dates back to the 14th century. It was a small village, with only about 2000 people living in it. In those days, there were no roads connecting this area with other places; instead, you had to travel on foot or by boat across nearby rivers and streams.

The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was built around 200 years ago by a king named Ezhimalai Perumal (who ruled during 15th century). The name "Suchindram" comes from his name because he would often visit this place during his travels around Tamil Nadu's coastal region.

Rural Village Life Experience

The rural village life experience is a perfect way to learn about the local culture, language and lifestyle. You will be able to see how rural people earn their living and participate in workshops and classes.

You can also meet the local people who live here which will help you understand more about their needs and aspirations.

Explore the Surrounding Beaches

The beach is one of the most relaxing places you can find. It’s also a great way to spend time with family and friends, enjoy the sun and water, enjoy sand under your feet and even exercise! In addition to this there are so many things you can do on a beach (or any other place) including:

Making sandcastles or drawing in it using chalk or crayons

Playing games like volleyball or soccer

Building forts out of sand along with other children who also love building forts with their friends

The beauty about this activity is that it allows children to use their imaginations while they play together. This will help them develop creativity which will give them an opportunity later on in life when they decide what career path they want go down after high school graduation day comes around again next year at school again!

Closure

So, if you are planning for a holiday this year then suchindram would be the best option for you. The city has so much to offer in terms of places to visit, things to do and people who can guide you through it all. So if you want your vacation to be memorable and fun then Suchindram is the ideal place.
