Salem is a city that is rich in culture, history and celebration. Our city has many festivals and fests to celebrate our community's diversity. These events range from art shows, food events and more! We will be posting upcoming Fvents & Festivals in Salem so you can plan ahead for your next weekend out with friends or family!
Salem, Oregon's historic downtown will be transformed into a nightmarish wonderland for one night only on Halloween. This year's theme is "A Spooky Celebration of All Things Horror!" Expect to see dozens of vendors selling horror-themed merchandise and entertainment such as live music, comedy shows and more!
You will also find a variety of scary and gory attractions including: -A haunted house with live actors, props and special effects! -A bone garden where you can decorate your very own skeleton! -A zombie apocalypse obstacle course for all ages to enjoy!
The Salem Film Fest 2023 is a celebration of independent cinema, where the best in independent cinema will be screened at the historic Peabody Opera House.
The festival features films from around the world that explore themes such as social justice, gender equality, environmentalism and more. The festival also offers free workshops for attendees to learn about filmmaking techniques or produce their own short film! Be sure to check out some of these workshops before or after your movie screening:
Make Your Own Short Film Workshop (1pm) - This workshop teaches you how to make your own short film using analog equipment like cameras and projectors! You'll get hands-on experience with each tool while learning how they work together so you can create something unique in just one day!
Sound Design Class (5pm) - This class explores sound design concepts including Foley artists who create footsteps on concrete floors; Foley artists who record sounds so they can be re-created later by using different types of microphones; recordists who capture ambient noise during shoots; assistant directors assisting directors with technical aspects of production such as lighting equipment placement etc...
Salem Arts Festival is a celebration of the city’s vibrant arts scene. The event takes place on October 6th and 7th, and is FREE to attend! It’s also family-friendly, so bring your whole crew to enjoy music and performances by local artists as well as food trucks & craft vendors.
In addition to being home to many talented musicians and artists, Salem has a rich history in the arts. In fact: “In 1841 alone there were over 40 different organizations that sponsored theatrical productions within Salem City limits…it was not uncommon for these groups to hold their own theaters during this period." The Salem Food Festival is an annual event that celebrates the city’s rich culinary scene. It includes a variety of events, including cooking demonstrations and tastings from local Salem Restaurants, wine tasting and beer brewing demonstrations at the Brewery on the Bayou (BoTB), live music performances throughout downtown Salem during Taste of Salem—the largest outdoor food festival in New Jersey!
If you love to eat out then this festival is for you! You can sample different foods from around the world while enjoying live entertainment along with other fun activities like shopping at local boutiques or visiting historical sites.
The Salem Maritime Festival is a celebration of Salem's seafaring heritage. It is a family-friendly event held on the waterfront, and it's a great place to take the kids!

The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival is a celebration of the city's music scene. The festival will feature local musicians, food vendors, art vendors and authors.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 27th from 12:00p to 8:00p at the Old Meeting House in Salem's Historic District (Click here for directions).
The festival is free and open to the public.
The event will feature live performances by the Salem Jazz and Soul Revue, DJ Donna-Mae, and more. There will also be a variety of food vendors serving up delicious food to enjoy while you listen to the music!
The Salem Poetry Festival is a celebration of poetry and the power of words. It's an opportunity to read your favorite poems, hear new ones, and celebrate poets from around the world. The festival will take place in downtown Salem on Friday, April 27th through Sunday, May 1st.
The mission of this event is to encourage people to read more poetry by showcasing works from local and national authors as well as internationally known poets; teach you how to appreciate a poem; provide you with an opportunity for creative expression through writing contests; feature live music performances; provide opportunities for children's readings during family night events held each day (Friday until 8pm); help attendees develop their own personal collection of books about poetry that they can share with others who might be interested in learning more about it themselves!
The Salem Beer and Cider Fest is a celebration of local craft brews and ciders. This annual event brings together the best breweries, cider makers, food trucks, live music and children’s activities for one day in downtown Salem.
The festival will take place on Saturday, June 16th from 12pm-5pm (or until the beer runs out!). There will be plenty of opportunities to try some tasty brews from your favorite breweries like Cascade Brewing Company (Cascade), Lompoc Brewing Company (Lompoc) or Willamette Valley Brewing Company (Newberg). You can also visit one of our many cideries such as Astoria Cidery & Distillery or Woodchuck Hard Cider!

The Salem Holiday Market is a great place to find unique gifts for friends and family members. It’s also a great place to find local treasures, like antiques and handcrafted jewelry from local artisans. You can also get yourself something special from this event!
The Holiday Market will be taking place on November 23rd at the Historic District Association’s historic headquarters building located in downtown Salem, MA. The event runs from 10am - 4pm with free admission for all ages (under 14 must be accompanied by an adult).
Salem Dance Festival is a celebration of dance in Salem, Oregon. The annual event features performances by local and national artists, including the Oregon Ballet Theatre Company. The festival also includes workshops for kids and adults to learn how to dance or improve their skills.
The Salem Dance Festival has been held annually since 1997, with its first year being held on October 6th at Memorial Coliseum (now known as McArthur Court).
The event has grown since then and moved to the Salem Convention Center in 2010. The festival is held every October, coinciding with National Dance Month.
The Salem Farmers' Market will be a great place to find local produce and artisan products. The market is open every Saturday from 8am - 1pm, but you can also shop during the week if you prefer.

The market is located at the corner of State and Liberty streets in downtown Salem. Parking is available nearby, but you may have to walk a few blocks.

Salem Historical Tours 2023: Explore the City's Fascinating History! This event will provide an inside look at the history behind some of Salem’s most famous landmarks while highlighting some lesser-known facts about these locations. You'll learn how they came into existence and what makes them unique today!
Salem is known for its witches and witchcraft, ghosts and haunted houses. It’s also the capital of Oregon and one of America's most historic cities.
Salem’s history goes back to 1777 when it was founded by Massachusetts pioneers who arrived on the Oregon Trail with dreams of creating a new life in America. The city became famous after it became home to some of America’s first settlers (including George Washington).
Today you can find many historical sites throughout Salem that tell these stories—but there are also many mysteries still waiting to be uncovered!
Salem is a city full of surprises, and we’re excited to see what the next year has in store for the arts community. We hope these festivals will inspire you to get out there and discover all that this beautiful city has to offer!
