Thiruvananthapuram is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. The city has many historical buildings, museums, gardens and beaches that can be enjoyed by visitors at no cost. Here are some things you should not miss while in Thiruvananthapuram:
The free-entry Napier Museum is located in the heart of the city and offers visitors a chance to explore the history of Thiruvananthapuram. It's open from 10:00am to 5:00pm on weekdays, except public holidays and Christmas Day (25 December).
Visitors are not required to pay any admission fee to visit this museum; however, there are some charges for entrance tickets. The new Soji Jacob Art Gallery will open its doors on 1 January 2014 - but visitors can visit it for free before then if they would like!
The Kanakakunnu Palace Gardens are a beautiful place to visit with friends or family. The gardens offer free entry and are a great place to relax, take photos and enjoy the atmosphere.
The palace itself has been restored by various rulers since its construction in the 14th century AD. The building has undergone many changes over time, but it still retains its originality today. It is surrounded by beautiful Gardens and parks in Thiruvananthapuram that have been landscaped so well that they appear like an island covered in greenery! You can spend hours walking around these lush grounds without getting bored because there are so many things to see: ponds filled with fish; statues of gods encased in gold; paths lined with trees that offer shade from hot sunrays during summertime; etc., etc., etc..
Thiruvananthapuram is known for its markets and street vendors. The markets are great for finding affordable Thiruvananthapuram shopping areas, local products, crafts and food. They also offer plenty of souvenirs like clothes that you can wear while visiting other places in India or just hanging out at home!
Street Vendors: If you're looking to buy some souvenirs but don't want to pay too much money then look no further than the street vendors who sell all kinds of things under one roof including clothes & accessories (jewelry) but also food items like samosas & pani puris which can be cooked over an open fire made from wood chopped from nearby trees!
Local Markets: There are many different types of markets around Thiruvananthapuram where locals come together every day after work at nightfall so as not only do they sell their own stuff but also get others involved too; often times these gatherings turn into festivals where everyone dresses up in costumes & sings songs together before heading back home when it gets dark outside again."
Kowdiar Palace is a palace in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It is the official residence of the Raja of Travancore. The Kowdiar Palace complex consists of two main structures: an ancestral home called Cheri Mansion which serves as the official home for royalty and one that was built after independence from British rule by Lord Napier (the last ruling Maharaja).
The palace grounds are filled with lush greenery, beautiful gardens and ponds that were built by lords before them to create an ambience for leisure activities such as fishing or bird watching.
Kovalam Beach has always been one of my favorite beaches because it has so many things to do on it! You could rent boats at different stations along this beach so you could explore further into some caves or see dolphins swimming near shoreline; you could also go snorkeling around shipwrecks nearby if you wanted something different than just lounging around on sandbar - do whatever floats your boat!
Veli Tourist Village is a nice place to visit and it's not just beautiful, but also full of history. It was once the site of many palaces, as well as being home to several religious shrines and churches. The most notable one being St Mary’s Church which was built by Portuguese missionaries in 1665 AD.
Another great thing about this area is that it doesn't require any walking or climbing stairs at all! There are plenty of paths through this part of town so you can take your time exploring without worrying about getting tired or out of breath from climbing up steep hills all day long!
You may want to plan some activities around this location as well; there are plenty available on their website including guided tours (which cost extra), guided walks around town (also extra) plus more options if you want something tailored specifically towards children/families etcetera :)
If you are interested in science and technology, then the Kerala Science and Technology Museum is a must-visit. The museum is free, open from 9:00 to 16:00 and located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city. It offers an interesting insight into the evolution of technology over time, with specific focus on the state's history.
The museum also has other sections dedicated to exploring different aspects of life, such as how ancient civilizations used their knowledge to create new technologies, local villages where people still live off their land but have access to modern amenities like electricity or phones as well as views from atop some ancient temples (which are still standing).
The Gandhi Memorial Museum, which offers free entry to all visitors, is located inside the Gandhi Memorial Hall. It's open from 10am to 5pm 365 days a year and can be reached by taking an auto-rickshaw or taxi from any part of town.
The museum features exhibits on Mahatma Gandhi's life and work as well as his political career in India. The collection includes documents relating to the freedom struggle such as letters written by him during the struggle against British rule; newspapers printed at that time; photographs taken by Indian soldiers during World War II; paintings by artists who supported Mahatma Gandhi’s cause (including Chagall); artifacts related specifically to his ashram at Sabarmati Ashram near Ahmedabad city; weapons used during peaceful protests against British rule (such as lathis).
Kowdiar Gardens are a beautiful place to visit.
The gardens are located in the heart of the city and make for a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. If you want to take photos, this would be an ideal setting for you!
Also don't miss out on free entry in Napier Museum (which has an interesting collection of artefacts), as well as free entry into Gandhi Memorial Museum if you'd like to learn more about Gandhi's life or read more about Indian independence movement from his perspective.
In Kovalam, you can enjoy a picnic on the beach. There are many beautiful beaches in Thiruvananthapuram, but if you want to spend your time at one place, then go to Kovalam Beach. It’s not only a beautiful beach but also has many facilities like Thiruvananthapuram, cafes and bars where you can enjoy food or drinks with friends or family members.
The Kovalam Beach is located about 15 km from Thiruvananthapuram city center and takes around 45 minutes by road (auto). You can get there by buses from various places such as Trivandrum Central Bus Station (TCBS), Technopark Bus Station etc., but they may take 2 hours until reaching this area due to traffic jams on roads during peak hours like 4 PM-5 PM due to heavy traffic flow between all cities around Kerala state including Kochi City which is just 3 km away from TCBS itself!
If possible avoid visiting this region during weekends because these days there will be more tourists than usual because Indians love holidays!
The Soji Jacob Art Gallery is free to enter, open all day and every day, from 9am to 5pm. It's also open on Sundays from 10am to 6pm and Saturdays from 11am to 6pm.
If you want more information about the art you're interested in or if there are exhibitions that might interest you in the future, ask one of the staff members at the gallery how much it would cost for tickets online. They can tell you whether or not there are any special discounts available for students or members of certain organizations (such as cultural associations).
In addition to exploring its collection of paintings by Kerala artists such as C V Raman Pillai and Neelakanta Pillai Raja Ravi Varma (who were two prominent exponents of Western painting), this gallery also hosts special exhibitions featuring contemporary artworks by local artists who have been working since around 2010; these include some works created especially for children but may also include adult-oriented pieces if they don't mind seeing their creations displayed alongside those made by children only
