Ujjain is a city in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is the largest city of Malwa region and has been called the "heart" of ancient India. Ujjain has been an important political, cultural and religious center since its origins in prehistoric times.

The city was known as "Ujjayini" before it became part of ancient Avanti kingdom ruled by Shishunaga dynasty that ruled for nearly 3 centuries (7th century BCE). After fall of Avanti kingdom to Mauryan empire around 321 BCE; its rulers were called Satvapatis and later Saka kings took over most parts till about 320 CE when Ashoka invaded western region along with his son Bindusara who was defeated by Chandragupta Maurya at Kunershehara (present day Kannauj) which made him shift focus towards southern India instead.

Jain Centre Hotel: Located near the railway station in Ujjain city center, this hotel was built by Rajasthani Jains who wanted to preserve their culture by opening up this hotel for travelers looking for authentic Rajasthani food served at reasonable prices!
