Panipat is a city in Haryana, India. It is located on the Yamuna river and is one of the major cities of Haryana state. Panipat was founded by Raja Sansar Chand Katoch, who established it as a fort town in 1738.
The Panipat International Literature Festival is an annual literary festival held in Panipat, Haryana. It is one of the longest running festivals in India and it runs from February to March every year.
The main aim of this festival is to promote literature among people around the world as well as promote authorship by encouraging new writers from across countries who would like to showcase their works at this venue.
The first edition of this event was held in 2010 when it spread over two days (9th & 10th) but since then it has been extended till March 11th through a total duration of three days (10th – 12th).
The Panipat Food Festival is a food festival that is held every year in Panipat, India. The festival is held in the month of March and lasts for 4 days. It's organized by the Panipat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
The PCCI organizes this event as a part of its 'food fest' series where they have different themes every year like 'chocolate', 'vegetarians', etc., each with their own theme-based activities such as cooking classes, contests etc., along with live music performances throughout the duration of each day's activities at various locations across town including college campuses like IGNOU campus or even at nearby parks where people can enjoy themselves while enjoying delicious food options!
The Holi Festival is a festival of colors. It is celebrated in the month of March, which coincides with spring and is also known as Sankranti among some people. The celebrations begin on the night before Holi when people throw colored powder at each other to celebrate love, hope, joy and friendship.
The celebrations continue throughout the day until sunset when they end with one final burst of color in an act called 'Boli-kalpana'.
The Panipat Craft Fair is held in the month of November. It is a three-day event and it takes place at the Panipat Craft Fair ground.
The fair has been organized by the Panipat Municipal Corporation since 1992, but it was only started to help promote local craftsmanship and artisanship among them.
The Panipat Mango Festival is a festival that celebrates the arrival of the mango season. It is held in Panipat, India and runs from May to June. It is organized by the Municipal Corporation and it has become an annual event since its inception in 2014.
The highlight of this festival is its food street where you can find local delicacies such as pav bhaji (spicy vegetable curry), puri buns, dahi ke sath (mixed salads) etc., which are quite popular amongst locals as well as tourists visiting this area during summer months
Panipat Film Festival is a film festival held in Panipat, India. The festival was first organized by the Panipat Film Society and has been held every year since 2002 with varied themes and programs. The next edition will be held from March 11 to 16, 2019 with focus on movies from different genres such as drama, romance, biography/biopic etc., with an aim to promote cinema as an art form among students of all ages through screenings at various locations around town including schools & colleges under its educational initiative called "Cinema for Kids".
The first edition saw participation from several national award winning filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali (director), Vikram Bhatt (writer/producer), Gauri Shinde (director).
The Panipat Kite Festival is a celebration of kites and kite flying. It is a festival of the kites and kite flying, which takes place every year in April at the Gurudwara Complex in Panipat. The event attracts thousands of visitors from across India and abroad who come to experience this unique form of entertainment firsthand.
