Upcoming Events & Festivals in Tezpur

The city of Tezpur is a cultural hub and has a rich history. The city also hosts many festivals, including Bihu, Elephant Festival and Jyoti Chitraban Film Festival. Here are some upcoming events that you should not miss out on:

Bihu Festival

Bihu is a festival celebrated by the Assamese people. It is a festival of friendship, love, harvest and blessings.

Bihu is also known as Sankranti (literally translated as "first day") or Pongal (Tamil calendar month). The festival falls in mid-January or early February every year. The celebration lasts for three days starting on Pongal day (or Janmashtami) which marks the birth of Lord Krishna - January 14th in case you are wondering how these things work!

The word Bihu means arrival or triumph; it refers to various rituals performed during this time frame since they represent an auspicious beginning to one's journey through life’s ups and downs – “Goodbye winter goodbye summer goodbye autumn / we say goodbye now / enjoy your new year!”

Elephant Festival

Elephant Festival is a festival that celebrates the elephant as a sacred animal. It is held every year in October and it lasts for three days.

It was first held in 1992 at Dharmanagar area of Tezpur, Assam, India by some local people who wanted to celebrate their culture and tradition. Since then this festival has become very popular among people from all over India and even outside its borders like USA, Australia etc., who love traveling there during this time frame when temperatures are milder than usual (around 30°C)

Jyoti Chitraban Film Festival

Jyoti Chitraban Film Festival is a film festival held in Tezpur, Assam. The festival is organized by the Tezpur City Youth Club every year in January and it provides a platform for young film makers to showcase their talent. The Festival aims at promoting the culture of Assam, particularly its heritage and traditions through films which are made by local filmmakers as well as from other parts of India like Bengal or even abroad if possible.

The Festival provides an opportunity for young people from both sides (Assam & Bengal) to interact with each other through screenings of movies made by people from different places on borderlines like this one between two states where there is also another festival being held simultaneously called ‘Mogol Moot Vibhaag’ which happens every year during November-December every year where we celebrate our history together as a community through dance performances etcetera so that we don't forget who we really are today because everyone has their own identity but still remains connected with others around them no matter what differences might arise between them later down the line!

Durga Puja

Tezpur Mahotsav

Tezpur Mahotsav is a cultural and artistic festival that takes place every year in January. The festival is held to celebrate Assam’s rich cultural heritage. It also aims at bringing together people from different communities and making them aware of their shared roots as well as promoting harmony among them.

The event is organized by the Government of Assam, with support from various other bodies like Department of Cultural Affairs & Tourism (DCAT), Tourism department etc. It has become so popular that even non-Assamese people come here to enjoy themselves during this time!

Tezpur Mahotsav 2018 will be held on February 1st – 3rd 2019 at various locations across Tezpur city including Tinsukia Bridge Road, Town Hall Square etc., where there will be lots more activities planned than just Bihu dance performances!

Brahmaputra Beach Festival

The most popular festival in Tezpur is the Bihu Festival. It is a cultural festival which is held at the beach of this city. The Bihu Festival was started by Miss Jodhaba, who had come here with her husband and children. She was very fond of this place and wanted to make it better than what it used to be before they came here. So she decided that if they were going to live in such a beautiful place then they should also celebrate their culture with all its beauty as well as tradition by organizing different kinds of festivals like Monsoon Festival, Brahmaputra Beach Festival etc.,

The Brahmaputra Beach Festival is one such event where people from all over East Bengal participate in many activities ranging from dancing performances by local artists, puppet shows etc.,

Assam Tea Festival

The Assam Tea Festival is held in the month of February every year. The festival is held in Near Railway Station Tezpur, Assam, India. It is a cultural event that celebrates the harvest of tea leaves in Assam by offering performances and other activities to visitors.

The date for next year's event is not clear yet but it will take place somewhere around March or April 2019 (according to sources). Location details are not available yet either but festivals are usually held at Dibrugarh town hall premises or other popular places such as Bihu Bhawan Square where Bihu celebrations take place during this period every year so it's likely that if you're planning on visiting this beautiful place then you'll get an opportunity to attend their annual festival as well!

Tezpur Food Festival

The Tezpur Food Festival is a food festival held in Tezpur, Assam. The festival is organized by the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC). It has been held since 2002 and is one of the largest food festivals in India. The festival features over 1,000 stalls selling diverse cuisines from across India, including South Indian cuisine and Chinese cuisine. There are also stalls selling traditional Assamese sweets such as kachori and barfi.

The annual event attracts visitors from all over India, who come to try out local delicacies while enjoying live performances during its five-day duration from May to June every year.[1]

Tezpur Monsoon Festival

Tezpur Monsoon Festival is a festival that celebrates the arrival of the monsoon season. It is celebrated in Tezpur, Assam. The festival was started by an entrepreneur named Mohan Pramanik who wanted to make this celebration popular across India so that people could learn about it and enjoy it together. He has been organizing this event since 2010 and has helped make it one of the most popular cultural festivals in Northeast India today!

As you can imagine, this involves lots of fun things like:

A parade where people dress up as different kinds of animals or objects (like elephants) and march around town while playing music;

Cultural performances including dance shows; and much more!

Literature Festival

The Literature Festival is a literary festival held in Tezpur, Assam, India. The festival is organised by the Tezpur Literary Society and was inaugurated on 27th December 2000. The main objective of the Literature Festival is to celebrate Guwahati’s literary culture.

The festival has been held every year since then and features various events such as:

Poetry competitions for students (in Hindi)

Reading sessions by well-known authors

The highly anticipated annual event includes an “Open Mic Night” where amateur poets from across Assam perform their work under one roof!

Craft Festival

Craft festival is a popular festival in Tezpur. It is held during the month of March. It takes place at the Tezpur Museum and there are many stalls selling handicrafts made by local artisans. The Craft Festival also includes various cultural events such as dance performances, music concerts and puppet shows etc., which will make you feel like you've stepped back into an era when life was simpler but more fulfilling!

Bihu (or Bihu Mela), which means three days' celebration or worship begins with Durga Puja on fifth day after full moon in month of April every year at around noon on Purnima day or 14th day after new moon; Elephant Festival is held on first full moon day in July every year at around noon on Purnima day or 14th day after new moon; Jyoti Chitraban Film Festival is held annually from October 1st till 15th at various places within Assam state such as Guwahati city center where film makers come together for discussions about their craftsmanship along with other events happening throughout this period including talks given by eminent personalities related toward this field too etc.

Street Food Festival

The Street Food Festival is a Tezpur-based event that celebrates the city's diverse cultural heritage and its street food culture. This festival was made possible by collaborations between city government, Tezpur's street food culture and Tezpur's diverse cultural heritage. The festival will be held on October 2nd-3rd at Centenary Garden and Parks in Tezpur.

The first edition of this annual event was held in 2012 with over 100 stalls selling all sorts of traditional dishes from around India, Nepal and Bangladesh. In 2013, it grew into a three day affair with over 200 stalls selling both vegetarian and non vegetarian food items from all over the country including Assam, Chhattisgarh etc., which included not only regional but also international cuisine like Chinese noodles imported from China via trains loaded with vegetable oil tankers!
