Wonderful Places to Visit in Kota

Kota and its attractions.

Kota is the capital of Rajasthan and is a very popular destination for tourists. It has many attractions, including historical sites, Kota Temples and pilgrimage sites. The city has a rich history that dates back to ancient times when it was known as Kotah or Kotadwar. Located on the banks of river Tapti River in southern part of India with an area of about 1000 square kilometers (390 sq mi), Kota today has become one of the most important cities in northern India because of its proximity to Delhi (600 km [370 mi]) or Mumbai (800 km [520 mi]).

It's also known as "The City Of Lakes" due to its numerous lakes surrounding it including Lake Pichola which is considered one among most beautiful lakes in whole country and home to around 30 species rare birds such as pelican & stork etc., huge crocodiles called Gavialos which live next door too!

City Palace

The City Palace is a historic building in Kota and is considered one of the finest examples of Indo-Saracenic architecture. It was built by Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, who ruled Kota from 1887 to 1912. The palace was constructed in 1885-1886 at a cost of Rs. 15 lakhs (equivalent to approximately $2 million today).

The City Palace features some beautiful gardens as well as an impressive collection of artefacts from its past rulers' reigns. Visitors can take part in guided tours through this historical landmark that has been listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2007.

Jagmandir Palace

Jagmandir Palace is a historical palace in Kota, Rajasthan, India. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II of Kota. It is located on the banks of the River Chambal and has a large garden with fountains and water lilies.

Chambal Gardens

Chambal Gardens is a popular tourist attraction located in the heart of Kota. The gardens have been developed over a period of time and are now one of the most popular venues for weddings, picnics and other events. Garadia Mahadev Temple

Garadia Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Garadia village in Kota district of Rajasthan. The temple has a beautiful architecture and is built on the top of a hillock with an impressive view of the town below. This place is regarded as one of the most important temples in North India, especially by people from Rajasthan who visit this place during their pilgrimage journey towards Ajmer Sharif (a nearby holy city).

Haveli of Devtaji

Haveli of Devtaji is a beautiful place to visit. It is a place of peace and tranquility, learning and hospitality. The haveli has been built by the great Emperor Akbar in 1574 A.D., who ruled over India for 51 years (1542 - 1605).

It was one of his dream projects that he wanted to build an opulent palace for himself but unfortunately he died when he was only 39 years old with no children or wives after him; therefore the building project remained unfinished until it came under royal patronage from his descendents who took over its management from then onwards till today’s day when it houses around 200 rooms richly decorated with Hindu style paintings depicting scenes from mythology as well as everyday life in ancient India

Godavari Dham Temple

Godavari Dham Temple is a famous temple in Kota. It is located in the heart of the city and has been attracting tourists since long. The temple has an exquisite architecture, which makes it one of the most popular places to visit in Kota.

The main attraction of this temple is its beautiful architecture that gives it a royal feel to it. It also boasts of having many festivals every year like Diwali, Holi and others etc., which can be seen by visiting this place at least once in your lifetime!

Rao Madho Singh Museum

Rao Madho Singh Museum is located in Kota, and it's dedicated to Rao Madho Singh. The museum has a collection of artifacts that were collected by his family members and others, including paintings and coins. It also has a library where you can view books about him as well as other historical figures from Rajasthan.

The gallery contains photographs of historic events in Kota such as royal weddings or coronations; these photos are displayed throughout the building so you can see what life was like before modern times! There's even an audio tour available if you want more information about places around town or would just like some background noise while touring this area (it's free).

The gift shop sells souvenirs such as postcards with images from inside the museum itself; however each item costs $1 USD so don't expect much value here unless you plan on buying lots of things at once—but then again maybe that's why we went there anyway?

Kota Barrage

Kota Barrage is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Kota, Rajasthan. The Barrage was built to control flooding and provide water for irrigation purposes. It is also an important tourist destination for its scenic beauty and historical significance.

The barrage was constructed between 1759 and 1761 by Jai Singh II, the ruler of Jaipur at the time. The barrage spans across 400 meters with a maximum width of 200 meters. It has four gates where boats can enter or exit from it freely during monsoon season when water levels are low but high during summer months when there is more rainfall than usual rains (usually less than 50mm).

Kansua Temple

Kansua Temple is a popular tourist destination in the city of Kota. The temple is dedicated to Durga, the goddess of power and strength. It was built in 1484 by King Raja Mahipal Singh and has several important sculptures on its walls that depict scenes from ancient Hindu mythology.

The temple also features beautiful gardens with peacocks roaming around them, making it a great place for photo shoots or selfies! If you're looking for something unique while visiting this attraction, consider visiting during festivals such as Holi (a festival celebrating springtime) or Ganesh Chaturthi (an occasion where people pray for their ancestors).

Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary

Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in Kota, Rajasthan. It is located in the city of Kota. It covers an area of 637 hectares and was established on 25th January 1983 by an act of parliament and declared as a national park in 1994 by India's Ministry for Environment & Forests (MoEF).

The sanctuary has been developed as part of a larger project to conserve biodiversity through conservation education programs. The aim is to preserve natural resources for future generations through holistic initiatives that include parks, nature reserves and sanctuaries like this one at Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary

Mathuradheesh Temple

Mathuradheesh Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated in Kota. It was built by the King Vikramaditya and it is one of the most popular temples in Kota. The temple complex has many other buildings like an assembly hall (mandap), a library and an auditorium with facilities for conducting religious activities. This temple was established by King Vikramaditya around 500 years ago as part of his efforts to spread Hinduism across all parts of India through his military conquests

The main deity here is known as Mathuradeesh or "Lord Shiva". He has been depicted with four arms holding different weapons such as trident, conch shell and sword etc., along with two heads - one having deer antlers while another has elephant trunk instead!
